Fighting four skin concerns with LED light therapy

You’ve probably heard of the treatment LED light therapy before, but do you know what it actually does?

I’d never had it before and knew little about it, until Naomi, founder of Attadale beauty salon Fleur Rejuvenation, rattled off a list of benefits and offered me a complimentary treatment.

What is LED light therapy?

LED light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that works deep into cells to combat common skin concerns by promoting:

  • collagen and elastin production
  • faster healing and renewing
  • anti-redness
  • killing off P. acne bacteria

And it’s not just your skin that can reap the benefits; LED light therapy can also be used to whiten teeth.

Sounds pretty good, right?

My skin needed help with all of the above. I get congestion on my chin, redness on my cheeks, and to my absolute horror I’ve noticed a few fine lines paving their way on my forehead and around my eyes.

So I booked into Naomi’s salon faster than the speed of light.

See what I did there?

Fleur Rejuvenation Signature Facial

At Fleur Rejuvenation you can either have LED light therapy on its own or work it into a facial; and unlike other skin treatments (like needling) there’s no prep needed prior.

I left my skin’s fate in Naomi’s hands and she decided her Signature Facial would be perfect for my skin type, then she’d work in the light therapy at the end.

Naomi uses products by ASAP, an Australian cosmeceutical brand that champions active ingredients.

The facial began with ASAP’s Gentle Cleansing Gel, which gently washed my skin with its light and fluffy formula.

This was followed by a mixture of ASAP’s Soothing Gel and makeup remover to create an eye mask that cooled and cleansed my eyes.

Next came the Daily Exfoliating Facial Scrub. This was a perfect gritty-yet-gentle formula, and sloughed off my dead cells and worked against my milia beautifully.

Once the serums and creams came into play, Naomi applied them then used an electronic device all over my face, which felt like a little hoover. This unique device makes the products penetrate the skin deeper, helping them nourish, hydrate and renew beneath the surface.

While the products sank in I was spoilt with a lavender oil massage for my neck and shoulders. Naomi has the relazing technique down pat, and I was sinking further and further into the bed.

LED Light Therapy

When it was time for LED part of the treatment, a lamp was placed above my face.

Once I had my eyes shut, I could see a bright light beam through my lids – the temptation to open them was unreal. It felt identical to having a sun bed, and was over in about 2 minutes.

Once my time was up, I was brought back to my senses by a citrus smelling lotion and ASAP’s Hydrating Lip Balm.

My skin felt incredibly soft and smooth from the facial, and plump and dewy courtesy of the LED light therapy.

To achieve the long term results like anti ageing, you need a course of them, but it’s a great treatment to have as a one-off before a special occasion if you’re after a quick glow injection.

Have you ever tried LED light therapy or had a course? What was your experience?
