Pat it, wet it, love it!
I probably wear eyeshadow about five times a year, and when I do it’s a blacked out smoky eye. Coloured eyeshadows are almost non-existent in my make-up bag so an eyeshadow has to really impress me for it to earn a place.
When I was introduced to Vani-T’s mineral Colour Crystals ($31.95), I thought I’ll never really wear them, but these are pretty unique for a couple of reasons.
Left: Golden Beige – Right: Pebble
Mineral eyeshadows are a little different. You need to press the powder onto your lids, not sweep it across, and here’s the cool part: if you dip your brush in to water, then into a Colour Crystal, the pigments intensify and transform into a liquid liner! This is why Vani-T haven’t got tonnes of eyeliners, their shadows become them, so if you tried their darkest shade Midnight, you’d have a smoky eye in a pot!
Below I’m wearing Golden Beige, a shimmery shade perfect for balmy summer nights. I’ve patted the powder over my lid, then wet and applied it on my upper lash line.
Aside from their natural formulas, the Mica ingredient adds luminosity and the rich pigments mean a little goes a long way. I prefer using them wet for a night out as they last longer and the colour is far more vivid, but just pressed on gives a subtle shimmer nice for the day.
Have you ever tried Vani-T’s Colour Crystals? What eyeshadows impress you?
