Lipstick of the Month: Serenity

The liquid lipstick with no dramas

Ladies, may I have your attention please? Because I’ve found a liquid lipstick that’s bloody brilliant!

And before you say/think it, no I haven’t been paid to write this post. I bought this liquid lippy with my own cold, hard cash (well, magical, invisible PayPal money to be exact).

One week ago the Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick landed in my lap and it has barely left my side since.

I bought the shade Serenity, a dark rose pink perfect for spring and gorgeous for any occasion.

Gerard Cosmetics’ Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick formula is absolutely fantastic. The best way I can describe it is by calling it a fast-drying, thick mousse, which makes it really easy to apply.

Despite being a beauty blogger, my lipstick apply skills aren’t the best and I usually need 3 cotton buds to tidy up the edges, but not with this little baby! It’s also highly pigmented so you only need to use a little.

Gerard Cosmetics are also true to their word by calling it ‘Hydra Matte’, because the formula doesn’t dry your lips out and it’s matte AF!

Serenity stayed perfect on my lips for 4 hours (basically until I had a meal). During this time the pretty pink colour didn’t crack, cake, feather or flake, and survived my snacking and water glugging – although it does transfer onto your bottle/mug/drinking paraphernalia.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick is a little sticky as it dries. This doesn’t put me off because of all the pros above, but I thought y’all should know.

An issue I do have is with the colours, as I think the shades vary depending on your lips. When looking at photos of the shades I know the colour of the lipstick will vary due to lighting and editing, but I was trawling YouTube channels too and the colours vary slightly from girl to girl.

Based on other reviews and swatches, I thought Serenity would be lighter and pinker than it is. Don’t get me wrong, I still love it, but it’s not the shade I thought I was getting. It’s more of a pinky terracotta and what it looks like on me could be slightly different to what it would look like on you.

This makes it difficult to know if the colour you’re eyeing up will suit you or not. I’ve almost ordered the Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Everything Nice several times, but backed out when it looks too orange or brown on some girls.

Nevertheless, I think I’ll just give it a go because I can see myself building up an army of these babies!

Have you tried these awesome liquid lipsticks or anything from Gerard Cosmetics before?
