Easy Bridesmaid Make-up

A natural look for anyone that stays all day

One month ago I flew home to England for my brother’s wedding, where I was given the honour of being a bridesmaid.

When the big day came and my hair was done, I knew exactly the make-up I wanted as I’ve created the look countless times before using fool-proof cosmetics.

Trust me, I’m no make-up artist so if I can do it, so can you. I just had good tools, and here they are…

Primer: Benefit Porefessional

I love this primer because it’s so silky and creates a brilliant smooth base for your foundation.

Foundation: Estee Lauder Double Wear

I recently raved about Estee Lauder Double Wear on this blog for its immense staying power and flawless finish. If you’d like to know what else I love about it, take a quick peep at my full review.

Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte

A great and affordable powder that does what it says on the tin!

Contour: Benefit Dallas

Before I got my hands on my Rimmel Sculpting Palette I didn’t have a contour powder, but the amateur make-up artist in me says a dark brown blush is same thing (correct me if I’m wrong!).

I dusted Dallas just under my cheekbones and it did the trick – but go easy as Dallas is heavily pigmented, so it’s easy to apply too much.

Blush: Dusty Girls Mineral Blush in Pink Ladies

I swept Dusty Girls’ mineral blush over the apples of my cheeks and above Dallas. Pink Ladies is a gorgeous ballerina pink that gives a soft, but long lasting hue.

Highlighter: Benefit High Beam

I love High Beam! A bottle will last you forever (I’ve had mine since I was sixteen… does that make me a skank?) as a little goes a long way. You just need to blend three or four dots over your cheek and brow bones for some serious sculpting.

You can also use High Beam in three other ways.

Concealer, eyeshadow & liner: Benefit Primpcess Kit

Sorry for the Benefit overload!

You can’t actually buy the Primpcess kit anymore but you can get Big Beautiful Eyes, which is almost the same.

Concealer: Boi-ing

You start with Boi-ing, which is one of the best concealers I’ve ever used. It’s a solid concealer that hides dark circles like a boss.

Eyeshadow: Creaseless Cream Shadow in R.S.V.P

Then apply the Creaseless Cream Shadow in R.S.V.P all over your eyelids, from your lash line to your brows. This long lasting cream is a beautiful icy pink shade and compliments High Beam and Pink Ladies.

Then you use the ‘Contour Shadow’ in the creases and outer corners, which is a light pink champagne shade. The result is very subtle, so you need to use a fair bit to get some contrast against R.S.V.P.

The next step is so easy but a great little trick to know. The ‘Accent Shadow’ is a highly pigmented cream coloured powder that you just dot in the centre of each eyelid. This makes your eyes look twice as open and bright!

Brows and Eyeliner: Benefit’s Liner Shadow

The last step is Benefit’s dark brown ‘Liner Shadow’, which I use to fill in any gaps in my brows and as a liner. Using a powder liner instead of liquid creates a softer look, it’s easy to get right (sometimes I’m so cack-handed with liquid liner) and it’s buildable. But hold a bit of tissue under your eye when you’re applying it, as the brush can flick powder onto your cheeks.

Mascara: Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme

This is a great mascara as it doesn’t flake or clump, but the brush is a beast! It’s one of the biggest mascara brushes I’ve ever used, making it tricky to do your lower lashes without making some mess. However, the monster brush works a treat to coat the upper lashes and give you great length.

One downfall is that it’s not waterproof, so if you’re going to start blubbering when the bride puts her dress on, or when you’re walking down the aisle, or when you see relatives you’ve not seen for years, I recommend going waterproof!

Lipliner: Nude by Nature Mineral Lipliner in Demure

I finished my look with a dark nude mineral lipliner from Nude by Nature. Over 12 hours, I think I only had to top this up twice, which I think is awesome considering all the eating and drinking I did!
