REVIEW: The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet

From thick to thin: what happened when I swapped my thick moisturiser to a lightweight gel.

During the winter it’s common for us to up our dose of moisturisation, especially on our delicate little faces. I associate this with apply a thick, rich moisturiser with a trowel, and leaving the more lightweight creams for summer. This is why when I opened up The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet ($25) and saw the ultra thin consistency, I didn’t think now would be the best time to give it a go. #FirstWorldProblems.

As the name suggests, this little pink pot is very different from most of the moisturisers I normally use. I usually opt for a fairly thick, creamy consistency to cater for my dry/eczema prone skin, especially in the winter. Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet is the lightest moisturiser I’ve tried in a long time, but it promises 24 hour moisturisation so I figured we should get on just dandy.

Despite it’s texture looking a bit gritty, it’s a smooth gel loaded with The Body Shop’s sweet Vitamin E signature scent.

Because it’s so lightweight, I thought it would leave my skin thirsty for more as I usually indulge it with a heavier formula like S.W Basics of Brooklyn’s or Liz Earle’s moisturiser. However, I was really surprised at how nourished, smooth and soft my skin felt; I didn’t get Noddy cheeks once! (Click here if you’re not English and are wondering WTF Noddy is.)

Aqua Boost Sorbet is also a great moisturiser to use before you do your make-up due to its rapid drying speed and matte finish. It’s also lovely to apply when you’re feeing a bit hot and bothered as it cools your skin instantly.

Ideal For

I’d recommend The Body Shop’s delicious sorbet to anyone, but it will be particularly ideal for teens with young, oily skin or those prone to breakouts.

It would also be a fantastic addition to your suitcase if you’re off on holiday or preparing for an intense summer (Aussie readers!). The refreshing finish combined with Vitamin E derived from wheat germ oil protects skin from environmental aggressors, so it’s also fantastic if you’ll be enduring a humid or sweltering summer. Perth Sun, come at me!
